I received the package of citric acid. I mixed up my ingredients. I washed my dishes with Homemade Dishwasher Detergent.
The Recipe:
1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Citric Acid
1/4 Cup Salt
30 Drops of Essential Oil (I used Grapefruit!)
Mix it all up and use 1-2 tablespoons per load.
I got super fancy and put it all in an old glass peanut butter jar. Only the best in this house. I loaded up the dishwasher, threw in some detergent, added a few drops of lemon essential oil (to help with the spots and crazy water here) and headed out for the night.
I actually forgot about it and didn’t check out my dishes until the next day. No photo here. I don’t want to be shamed by my awful loading skills. I would say all in all the dishes came out clean. There is definitely a ‘getting used to phase.’ All cleaners these days are loaded with fragrances to make them smell ‘clean.’ When I checked out my dishes for the first time, I noticed a large LACK of fragrance. There was no smell. No good, clean, fresh smell. No terrible, nasty stink. I have decided no smell, is a good smell. We are revisiting what it is to be clean!
